Preschool New Friends and Baking News

A warm welcome to our new children; Harry, Keira and Lucia and also our new teacher, Shaina who will be with us for the next six months. This week our baking took a new turn, yeah!! We made yummy chocolate cup cakes. The children enjoyed making their favourite coloured icing and decorating the cup cakes. At the moment our current interests are baking (Yum!), creative play and relationships. Now we have the Virtue Vine, which encourages positive behaviours from the children. For example, if we see the children caring for others or for the environment etc, we reward them with flowers or leaves.

Fun Over The Fence!! (Nursery News)

On Thursday after sleep time, we snuck over the fence to the Toddlers playground to explore their side of town while they were sleeping. We were all so excited to venture out and have a go on all the different things that were set up. Zayvian tried out the new red bikes and zoomed around the footpath, having a great old time, laughing as he enjoyed a wider space to ride around. Alfie, who has headed towards the slide, wasn't fazed by the stairs and tunnel he had to go through to get to it, and had a ball sliding down the great big yellow slide.
Ranen and Poppy peeked through the shapes cut into the tunnel on their way through.
All in all we had a great time exploring the Toddler's playground, but were ready to come back to our side when we heard it was afternoon tea time. It's hard work playing over there, you know!!

Preschool News

We have had a very busy time in Preschool this week with lots of comings and goings.
Olivia and Lucas have left to start primary school and Jamie and Elliot are off to Canada to live. Levi is also leaving us to go to another centre. While we are sad to see them go, we wish them all the best for the future. We also welcome Shaina who is a new teacher here in Preschool.

Haircuts

Please mark on your calendars Friday 12th June - Haircuts for the children. Mel will be at the centre from 9.30 a.m. and permission slips will be sent out approximately 2 weeks before.

Welcome to Shaina Brown - "New Preschool Teacher"

Big apologies for leaving it so late but we would like to introduce our new Preschool teacher, Shaina Brown. Shaina is a graduate of Victoria University in Wellington and comes to us with her Bachelor of Education Early Childhood. Shaina lives locally (in Grey Lynn) and will be working in the Preschool for the next 5 months after which time she plans to travel overseas. Shaina is covering Cindy's absence (she is on practicum placement) in the first instance and following this will be working between either the Toddler room or Preschool depending on the need. Josie is expecting a baby and will be leaving on maternity leave in August so it is expected that Shaina will be helping out at this time as well. Please introduce yourself to her if you have not already done so.
Welcome Shaina to Bayfield Early Education Centre!

Nursery News

We would like to welcome Roman, James and Jackson to the Tuatara Room. It's really nice to see that they are confidently exploring the environment within both of the rooms -Tuatara as well as the Pukeko Room.
This week on Tuesday we had Mother's Day. Thanks to all the mums who managed to steal some time from their busy schedules and visit us for the morning. The children were happy to see their mums. Tamir showed his developing gross motor skills by riding the bike and Ben and his mum spent some time looking at his profile book together.
Thanks to the mums - we had a wonderful morning.

Mother's Day in the Toddlers

On Tuesday it was a very special day in the Toddler Room and at Bayfield. It was Mother's Day!! It was a great opportunity for the mothers to come into Toddlers and spend the morning with their child.
In the morning some mothers sat at mat time and enjoyed singing songs and listening to stories.
The children then led their mums outside to explore the playground, swing and sandpit.
A big thank you to all the mothers that were able to attend!!
See attached photos.

Biker Babies

This week in the Tuatara Room, whenever we were outside most of us would end up on the bikes!! Tamir had no fear as he pushed himself up to the top of our outside pathway and rolled all the way back down, laughing all the way! Josephine also enjoyed riding her bike down the hill and maintained great control of her little vehicle, dodging pedestrians along the way! Zayvian had fun pushing himself around on his bike, but had a few close calls with the other motorists! All in all bikes remain a favourite in the Tuatara Room and we have some pretty good drivers in the making! See attached photos.

Preschool News

There is lots happening in the last couple of weeks in the Preschool. Several children have left us for primary school. We will miss them - Leroy, Poppy, Hannah and Hudson. At the same time, we welcome three new faces - Nehorai, Harry and Lucia.
This week the children helped to make purple playdough and enjoyed making all sorts of things out of it. On Friday they made yummy banana cake with the teachers. We are so delighted to see them have another fun week and become little helpers.
